The Swiss Cottage is a small, family run self catering holiday home in the heart of Pickering, North Yorkshire: a quaint and beautiful market town also known as the gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. 

As with many families in the modern world, we have been dispersed through work commitments over the years, with strong links to Switzerland, hence the name choice of our home. 

However, our geographical distance doesn’t keep us away, and our family home, the people, and location are of high importance to us. This leads further into our cottage concept - the belief that “Supporting Local” is an essential part of our philosophy. This beautiful home must not stand empty and wait for us only - it has the capability, and the opportunity to work for its locality. For this reason, we opened up the doors back in December 2022, to share this treasure, to welcome you as our guests, and to help keep Pickering town and the North Yorkshire area buzzing and vibrant for years to come.

• provide comfortable and centrally located accommodation for guests to explore two stunning UK market towns

• promote local small businesses, small events, charity outfits, other local destinations of interest, local sporting clubs
• strive to employ small businesses locally for maintenance, housekeeping, and general household needs

The Swiss Cottage, Pickering has supported numerous guests on their trips to Yorkshire already over this first year of operation, and we hope to create some long lasting family memories for people for years to come. We are a family friendly home with 3 bedrooms and an enclosed rear garden - suitable for small children to play safely in without worry as it is all fenced in. This cottage also accepts dogs on prior arrangement. 

For the guests who like more information about their visit we have open communications for answering questions and to provide recommendations on the town, day trips, dining options, and so on. Some recent visitors to the cottage have even had HRH King Charles visiting the town during their stay - we didn’t organise this, he came of his own doing.

We are also excited to share news of a new property which we are supporting, belonging to some dear friends and family in Ludlow, Shropshire.  The Old Coach House, Ludlow is scheduled to open very soon, so watch this space. We will share photos of its progress as renovations advance.
