The Swiss Cottage is a small, family run collaboration currently operating in Pickering, North Yorkshire. We soon will be linking North Yorkshire and Shropshire in a perfect blend of boutique self-catering holiday cottages, once The Old Coach House has completed all renovations.
As with many families, we have been dispersed through work commitments over the years, with current strong links to Switzerland, hence the arching website’s name choice. However, our geographical distance doesn’t keep us apart, nor does it detract from our belief that supporting local is an essential part of our philosophy.
A bunch of cousins with two beloved family homes in their places of youth. The Swiss Cottage: Pickering & The Old Coach House: Ludlow open/ed their doors to the UK Short Term Holiday Market as part of our “Support Local” concept. In doing so we:
- contribute to the local economy
- promote tourism
- keep our beloved towns buzzing, alive, and vibrant
- provide memorable experiences for guests through our personal touch
- provide comfortable and centrally located accommodation for guests to explore two stunning UK market towns
- look to provide local produce where possible
- promote local small businesses, small events, charity outfits, other local destinations of interest, local sporting clubs
- strive to employ local maintenance and housekeeping teams.
With The Swiss Cottage, Pickering opening first in December 2022, we have supported numerous guests on their trips to Yorkshire already. The Swiss Cottage is a family friendly home, with 3 bedrooms and an enclosed rear garden - suitable for small children to play safely in without worry. This cottage also accepts dogs on prior arrangement.
For the guests who like more information about their visit we have open communications for answering questions and to provide recommendations on the town, day trips, dining options, and so on. Some recent visitors to the cottage have even had King Charles visiting the town during their stay - we didn’t organise this, he came of his own doing. And we do mean the actual King, not a King Charles Spaniel paying them a visit.
The Old Coach House, Ludlow is scheduled to open Summer 2023. We are very excited to share photos with progress of the development phases as renovations advance.
