Steven31. August, 2026Carole's place was amazing. In the middle of pickering, close to everything. Parking was not a problem, a two minute walk at most to get to the car. Ben26. October, 2025We loved staying at the Swiss Cottage and would happily come back! It's a very warm, cosy and spacious house in a fantastic location. It's right near the centre of Pickering, a two minute walk to shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants in a pretty market town. But it's also on a quiet side street without much traffic. It's in a great location for days out at the coast, Dalby Forest, Flamingoland or the North York Moors Railway. We would give the host Carole six stars if we could, she was so responsive and helpful, with lots of local information. She gave us a tip off that the Flying Scotsman steam train was in Pickering for the weekend, a rare event which gave us a great day out. So, thanks to Carole for a great few days!Posted on Airbnb

Kathryn21. July, 2025Thank you we have just enjoyed a wonderful few days in Swiss Cottage. It is so homely and we felt relaxed straight away. When we arrived it was spotless with a beautiful kitchen and bathrooms. The location is perfect for Pickering and the surrounding area. We loved Dalby forest and Thornton le Dale. The host is so very helpful informing us of local eateries and activities. My questions were always answered quickly. Thank you so much for helping to make our break so good. Madge28. August, 2024As a family of 6 we loved staying at Swiss Cottage. The children enjoyed the things to do there while we rested. But the area is surrounded with many amazing things to do. Carole is an excellent host. She is available immediately with text. We were worried about parking, but we found parking further up the road and we're able to walk to everything in Pickering. Andy11. August, 2024Swiss Cottage is a lovely wee house, centrally located in Pickering. Spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large dining table allowed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped too. The only slightly negative aspects of the property are, no parking, stopping to load/unloading is possible outside the cottage but parking is approx 100-200 meters away, won't be a problem for most people though. The showers are adequate but far from a luxurious experience. Overall a great stay with great communication from the owner. I'd definitely stay again.Posted on Airbnb

On the plus side for us was that it was only a 3 minute walk to the steam station which we went to for two days.I would highly recommend anyone visiting Pickering to stay here. Loads of really useful information, some great recommendations for food, incredibly friendly and proactive.The house is delightful - it is on a beautiful historic street in Pickering, turn left and you’re two minutes from town, turn right and a five minute walk takes you to the Castle and some fabulous strolls into the surrounding countryside. The station for the North York Moors Railway is just a few minutes walk away as well…… it really is perfectly placed.Inside, everything was spotless, but homely. The kitchen is very well appointed and there was a nice welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits ; the bathroom is great with plenty of towels; the bedrooms have everything you need.The garden is a real treasure - a lovely summerhouse overlooks a nice patio and lawn, perfect for an afternoon gin and tonic after a hard day’s sightseeing!A big thank you to Carole (and her Dad) for a fabulous stay.Posted on Airbnb

We got parked within a couple of minutes walk to the house each day. Pickering is a lovely little town and we'd highly recommend visiting 'Nosh' a lovely cafe which was about a 2 minute walk away.

Our little one loved the toy box & he also had a very restful nights sleep in the cot provided. Judith Wright1471 days agoWould definitely recommend a stay in this beautiful cottage! It’s situated in an ideal location, on a quiet residential street yet within a short walking distance to the lovely market town. Pickering has a good range of pubs, restaurants, shops and other places of interest like the Castle, North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam train and Beck Isle museum. There are lots of footpaths close by as well as a large park which is equipped with a good quality play area plus training equipment for adults. Within close distance are fabulous walks on the North Yorkshire Moors. Pickering is only half an hour’s drive to various coastal resorts. The cottage itself is well decorated, clean and very comfortable, with lots of little touches in decor. We don’t own a dog but the owners have thoughtfully provided necessities. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need for self catering plus a large dining table and chairs. Outdoors there is a patio area and a delightful summer house in the garden, and we were able to enjoy time in the sunshine. Don’t hesitate to book a break in this lovely place!Posted on Facebook
Ben Blane1473 days agoLoved staying here. Great location close to some lovely beaches and Dalby forest. The rooms are lovely and the kids loved the garden and play area.... Which meant the adults could have a beer together. Can't recommend highly enough.
